Israeli missiles struck at Damascus International Airport in the early morning hours of Tuesday June 26th.  Syrian sources reported the attack.

The attack is said to have been on an Iranian cargo plane.   Syrian anti-aircraft defenses went into action with a pro-government source claiming an object was destroyed southwest of Damascus.

Today (June 25th)  the Israeli DEBKA website claimed that a drone targeted by an Israeli Patriot missile Sunday was participating in the offensive against jihadist opposition in SW Syria currently underway.  DEBKA quoted a Syrian officer as its source.

The Israeli attack on Damascus came in the wake of Syrian regime forces storming into the town of Busra al Harir following Russian air attacks over the weekend.  A pro-government source said the Syrian army has secured positions in the town tonight.

The Syrian government says its forces have retaken 400 square kilometers of territory north and east of Busra al Harir over the weekend with some opposition forces defecting to the government side.

Meanwhile the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights considered anti-government and a jihadist opposition source claim that "barrel bombs" have been used in the government offensive in the Daraa region.  This comes from a Reuters report.

Accusations of 'barrel bombs' for now, but when does the 'chemical attack' accusation surface again inducing US military intervention?
