BUNKERVILLE STANDOFF: SUPPORT POLITICAL PRISONER TODD ENGEL THROUGH TODAY'S FUNDRAISER
Todd Engel was one of the two men convicted in a rigged trial in connection with the Bunkerville Standoff. The trial was rigged because lead prosecutor Steve Myhre, then Acting US Attorney in Nevada, along with the other prosecutors in the case withheld evidence that would prove Engel's innocence as was uncovered in a later trial of other Bunkerville defendants leading to a mistrial.
It was also rigged because the judge in the case, US District Judge Gloria M. Navarro, refused to allow the defense to argue the case they wanted to with the witnesses they wanted to present.
Engel has hired an attorney in Las Vegas to appeal his conviction.
Attorney Warren Markowitz has run into a brick wall trying to get him released from prison where he is in limbo, having been convicted, but not sentenced.
Now Markowitz wants to take a deposition from the Bureau of Land Management whistle blower Agent Larry Wooten, to help Engel's appeal. Wooten has written two memos, one of them made public, revealing the rigging of the case against Bunkerville defendants, among other things.
10,000 dollars are needed and a fundraiser is being held at Noon today Eastern time.
