SYRIA UPDATE: UNITED STATES RESUMES FUNDING OF 'WHITE HELMETS', 'FIRM AND APPROPRIATE' MEASURES THREATENED
"The President has authorized the United States Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State to release approximately $6.6 million for continuation of the vital, life saving operations of the Syrian Civil Defense, more commonly known as the White Helmets.....
The United States Government strongly supports the White Helmets who have saved more than 100,000 lives since the conflict began, including victims of Assad's chemical weapons attacks..."
US Department of State news release 6/14/2018
"The Syrian organization was also accused by Russia and the Damascus government of covering up militants crimes and of staging fake chemical attacks to provoke U.S. military action against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).......
Most of the US funds will likely find its way to the White Helmets centers in areas controlled by the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria HTS and other al-Qaeda affiliated groups......"
"Southfront" article 6/14/2018
If the news release from Heather Nauert at the US State Department is to be believed, the "White Helmets" are a humanitarian aid group.
The US decision to fund "White Helmets" sets the stage for more "White Helmet" involvement in alleged chemical attacks, according to other sources.
Attacks that will be used to justify new military action against the Syrian government.
While President Trump has said defeat of ISIS is the only US objective in Syria, he has also turned around to condemn Russia, Iran and Syria over their actions in Syria, sandwiching defeat of ISIS with dual condemnations of those three countries in his February 23rd, 2018 statement at the White House.
