(SOME MATERIAL MAY BE DISTURBING OR OFFENSIVE)
A week on the road for your currently sober drunk host a week in the heartland visiting eateries like "Culvers" and "Pizza Ranch" synonymous with 'fly over country' as El Rushbo used to describe it.
On the road in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Fort Wayne, Indiana among other places which brought back some memories from my life.
Some music from 1971 that I used to hear on the radio part of the 100-song playlist of radio station WNOW in York, Pennsylvania a country radio station with a broad playlist some called it "Progressive Country"...
"ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE"-BREWER AND SHIPLEY
"ME AND YOU AND A DOG NAMED BOO"-LOBO
"PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND"-OCEAN
Those were big songs in my life back in 1971 played by a local disc jockey whose remote broadcasts I used to hang out at. I was 11 years old.
That guy used to get me involved in his remotes keeping track of that lengthy playlist of songs played from the radio station while he greeted his fans mingled with crowds at the remote broadcasts.
He had the on-air handle "Phil Gardner" but his real name Phil Reaser.
My interaction with him that year very influential in the career path I sought in radio and television down the road.
Phil moved on from York and later on I heard stories about the crazy life he led away from the microphone but that wasn't the end of his story...
PHIL REASER'S RETIREMENT FROM RADIO IN FORT WAYNE, INDIANA
And here's a longer version of Phil's story...
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord 'My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust'.
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday."
PSALM 91:1-6 ESV BIBLE
There will be a Sunday News Summary starting to post at Midnight on this Saturday night Eastern US Time.
''NO KINGS" THEY SAY WHY NOT "NO GODS"?
Today your host on the road driving from Grand Rapids, Michigan back home to York, Pennsylvania.
I witnessed two of these "No Kings" protests one on an overpass in Ann Arbor, Michigan the other along a street in Sandusky, Ohio.
Peter Hitchens over in the UK critical of the Conservatives in his country when it comes to their adulation of Margaret Thatcher. In the context of that he discussed the "Death of Christianity" and how humanity looks to other human beings out of the need to 'believe in something or somebody'.
I offered up a response noting how Conservatives in this country in my lifetime moved from personality to personality to fill their void noting a couple of political personalities in particular.
"#USA on the right we had idolatry -Ronald Reagan-@newtgingrich
37 trillion dollars in debt later @realDonaldTrump
Left with #NoKings protests against #Trump this weekend "No Gods" a better slogan
Better yet..."-"X" Post
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me"
EXODUS 20:3 KING JAMES BIBLE
And in the end Rush Hudson Limbaugh III might fit into that picture but as El Rushbo himself said his talent was "on loan from God".
AND THE PRICES KEEP GOING UP...
The six-pack of Pepsi one-liter bottles at Walmart went from $4.72 to $5.28 recently at 12 percent jump.
THE FACTS LOOK LIKE THIS WE ARE PAYING HIGHER PRICES DUE TO INFLATION AND TAXES THAT AREN'T CALLED TAXES ARE NOW IN THE PICTURE.
THE TAXES NOW DRIVING PRICES HIGHER ARE CALLED:
TARIFFS
AND ITS WORTH NOTING THERE IS A LOT OF US GOVERNMENT SPENDING THAT GOT US 37 TRILLION DOLLARS IN THE HOLE RUNNING DEFICITS EVERY YEAR OVER A TRILLION DOLLARS NOW.
MAYBE TAXES SHOULD BE RAISED WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE.
BUT REGARDLESS PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP HAS RAISED TAXES AND SAYS HE WANTS TO CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING DURING THIS FEDERAL SHUTDOWN.
IT'S PRETTY MUCH WHAT MOST EXPERTS WOULD SAY HAS TO BE DONE IN THE PRESENT SITUATION THE US GOVERNMENT FINDS ITSELF IN.
There was more conflict in Gaza this weekend but the ceasefire now brought back into effect as the opening of the markets approaches.
Good Night. God Bless.
"ALL THINGS"-GLAD (LIVE)
"PRAISE THE LORD"-THE IMPERIALS
"THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD"-BILL GAITHER TRIO
