After making the apparent concession of suspending the pension reform planned for 2030 for the 18-month period leading to the 2027 Presidential Election Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu held frantic talks with various political factions.
When the first censure vote came in the National Assembly on Thursday there were 271 yes votes 18 short of a majority.
Many Socialists and members from the Mainstream Right "Les Republicains" joined the Moderate Macronists to support the Lecornu government.
There were defectors from other factions in support of the government including one Green member who spoke of "Russian drones" flying over Europe to justify their endorsement of Lecornu's government.
