PROTESTS IN FRANCE TODAY OPPOSING THE MACRON-BARNIER GOV'T
As formation of a new cabinet played out in France during the week there were said to be tensions between Prime Minister Michel Barnier and President Emmanuel Macron and his faction.
But a cabinet with some Mainstream Right and Macronist Centrists was presented on Thursday evening in part through leaks. All 39 names fully revealed today.
The Macronist Sebastien Lecornu remaining in his post as Defense Minister.
20 of the 39 ministers named are from the "Macron faction".
The leader of Les Republicains in the Senate Bruno Retailleau named Interior Minister. In the Senate the LR party of Mr. Barnier is the largest faction...

Criticism of the new cabinet focused on the notion that it was too far to the Right economically and even socially.
When the final list of names came out tonight Laurence Garnier who was named Minister of the Family shifted to Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs.
Garnier was criticized for opposing a ban on 'conversion therapy' in relation to homosexuality.

In Rennes on Friday Police Commissioner Gregoire Chassaing acquitted in the June 2019 drowning death of Steve Maia Canico.
Police were cracking down at a music festival in Nantes using tear gas projectiles leading to Canico falling into the water.
Festival attendees throwing projectiles at police and refusing to shut down a sound system after 4 am.
