Caretaker Prime Minister Gabriel Attal proposing what amounts to a budget freeze for 2025.   The proposed level of spending 492 billion Euros (547.45 billion US Dollars)

The proposal spends more than Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire suggested previously when he spoke of budget cuts next year.

But it's not the kind of budget the Left wanted as it seeks to assume power following last month's election for the National Assembly.

They note that because of inflation this will mean 10 billion Euros (11.1 billion US Dollars) less in spending next year.

France is under pressure from the European Union to contain deficit spending with plans to keep the budget deficit at three percent of the budget by 2027...

Friday the first day of a long, drawn-out series of discussions with various political factions held by President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron brought his own "Centrist" faction in then the "Left" had its opportunity to meet him.

The New Popular Front with support from 193 of the 577 deputies elected to the National Assembly in last month's snap election asserts its position as the rightful faction to form a new government.

Also on Friday Les Republicains the "Mainstream Right" met with Mr. Macron along with some smaller factions.

On Monday the National Rally (RN) the "Far-Right" gets its turn along with Eric Ciotti and his group of 17 deputies elected as allies of the RN.

It's being said that Mr. Macron will make some sort of speech perhaps as early as Monday night.

The Macron faction through mainstream media has been stunting the notion that the Pro-Palestinian Anti-Capitalist LFI (La France Insoumise) (France Unbowed) should be excluded from government.

But for now the LFI in place as part of the united New Popular Front (NFP).

What comes out of Macron's discussions with the various factions regarding his choice for Prime Minister remains to be seen.

The NFP has rallied around civil servant Lucie Castets as its choice for the post.

And to emphasize at this moment keeping the Anti-Israel, Anti-Capitalist Left out of power in France is what underlies President Emmanuel Macron's actions in the post-election period.

Also worth noting the arrest of Pavel Durov this weekend in France might not have been possible with a new Leftist-led government in France.
