YELLOW VESTS MARCH IN PARIS FEBRUARY 17, 2024
A tough stance on immigration and asylum seeking from France's Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.
But not on the "Mainland" of France instead in the Indian Ocean on the island territory of Mayotte.
Mayotte is extremely close to both the African continent and the island nation of Madagascar a relatively short trip for migrants on boats.
Visiting Mayotte Mr. Darmanin called for an end to the "Right of the Soil" for migrants arriving there by boat.
Politicians from Les Republicains and the National Rally quick to call for such a policy in all of France not just on Mayotte.
AT A TUESDAY NIGHT DINNER WITH MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN THE GOVERNMENT FACTION, PRIME MINISTER GABRIEL ATTAL TOOK AIM AT MARINE LE PEN.
ATTAL MAY RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2027 AND FACE LE PEN WHO CURRENTLY LEADS THE NATIONAL RALLY IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.
ATTAL'S ATTACK ON LE PEN INCLUDED THESE BARBS:

"she knows everything better than everyone"
ATTAL SAYING LE PEN WANTS TO END NUCLEAR POWER IN FRANCE AND PULL FRANCE OUT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND HE ATTACKED LE PEN OVER HER SUPPORT FOR THE DEATH PENALTY AND HER COVID VACCINE OPPOSITION...
BFM-TV News Story: Gabriel Attal Attacks Marine Le Pen....(Translation Prompt)
On a week when the British and Japanese economies officially went into recession an admission that France's economy is stagnating further.
France already had a pretty poor projection for economic growth in 2024 now Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire is setting it lower.
Le Maire said other European countries are doing the same and France's current 1.4 percent projection is too high.
Before the new figure was made official "L'Opinion" reporting the lowered forecast to be .9 percent economic growth for 2024.
Le Maire saying European countries are behind the US and China economically and need to revitalize their economies by moving away from rules and standards that stifle growth.
Before today's protest video here is a video from a Yellow Vests event five years ago in February of 2019 at the height of the Yellow Vests.
The woman interviewed none other than French movie legend Brigitte Bardot. My original posting of this video on this blog back then but You Tube removed the video back then so I thought it would be interesting to bring it back...

Today's protest under sunny skies in Paris with a larger group and French flags displayed prominently some participants carrying Palestinian flags reminding us of the Left-Wing side of the Yellow Vests.
There were several drums used in the march and signs carried by demonstrators.

Speaking of the Middle East situation and hostility to Israel in France there was a demonstration outside a Carrefour store in Paris today.
The retail conglomerate condemned as a supporter of Israel...
Today in the town of Colmar in eastern France a protest in support of farmers.
The white banner in the front of the march proclaiming citizens, caregivers, and yellow vests:
"United for a Better World"
"Love Justice, Peace, Truth"...
For now that is the story of France and the Yellow Vests.
