RAINY YELLOW VESTS MARCH IN PARIS SATURDAY FEBRUARY 10, 2024
Francois Bayrou and his "Democratic Movement" were an important "centrist" party in the parliamentary majority enjoyed by President Emmanuel Macron after Macron won his first term as President in 2017.
This week Mr. Bayrou, a former Education Minister, found his name in the news suggested as a new Defense Minister for France.
But he shot the notion down saying the process to him seemed "humiliating" as he was in essence baited to approach Mr. Macron regarding the post.
The suggestion to put such a prominent man as Mr. Bayrou in the Defense Ministry pointing to the political weakness of Mr. Macron and his government.
Also pointing to the 'war clouds' in Europe right now with voices being raised in the UK and many EU countries ones close to Russia about the imminence of war.
Getting back to the political weakness of the Centrist government.
Just days ago First Round polling for the 2027 Presidential Election Marine Le Pen at 36 percent.
Current Prime Minister Gabirel Attal and Le Havre Mayor and former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe trailing when matched up against her.
They place at 22 percent in the IFOP poll.
THIS WEEKS FINALIZATION OF THE CABINET RESHUFFLE SAW AMELIE OUDEA-CASTEA OUT AS EDUCATION MINISTER AFTER THREE WEEKS.
HER TENURE MARKED BY CONTROVERSY INCLUDING HER CHILDREN'S ATTENDANCE AT A PRIVATE SCHOOL.

The National Rally of Marine Le Pen is led in this election by party president Jordan Bardella and Bardella's ticket has 27.5 percent support in the Elabe poll.
The Centrist parties of President Emmanuel Macron with 16.5 percent support.
Ecologists, the Left and the Socialists all with separate tickets each polling 9 percent and Communists at 2.5 percent.
8 percent supporting Les Republicans the "Mainstream Right" and at 5 percent the Renaissance Party with Marine Le Pen's niece Marion Marechal leading the ticket.
For now that's the story of France and the Yellow Vests.
