Tomorrow in the first round of France's Presidential election voters will be able to register their verdict on Emmanuel Macron's five years in office.
It was his fuel tax policies in 2018 that helped to launch the Yellow Vests protests. Higher energy taxes in the name of fighting "climate change" and "going green" had to be dropped.
In the month of the two election rounds (April 10th and 24th) existing fuel taxes have been lowered by the government in a bid to calm voter angst over higher prices triggered by sanctions on Russia.
Macron's main rival Marine Le Pen rising in the polls in recent days with Macron calling her policies "racist and "brutal". Tomorrow the first poll that counts with the top two finishers among the twelve candidates moving to the second round.
All indications are that the two will be Macron and Le Pen. The Left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon may have a large vote as the "Gauche (Left)" desperately try to unite behind a candidate. He will likely finish third and be out of the second round.
