The man dubbed the "far-right candidate" had a very strong first round finish in Brazil's presidential election.

Former Army officer Jair Bolsonaro got 46 percent of the vote well ahead of second place finisher Fernando Haddad of the leftist Workers Party at 29 percent.

The two will now face off in the second round on October 28th to see who gets more than 50 percent of the vote and becomes the next president of Brazil.

Bolsonaro said the choice coming up for the country is one of following a path of "prosperity, liberty, family on God's side" or the path of socialism as in the neighboring country of Venezuela.   

Two Israelis were killed and a third injured in a terrorist attack in the West Bank Sunday morning at an industrial park.  The Palestinian killer was a former employee of the factory where the attack occurred.  Police suspect revenge may have been a motive.

Israel Defense Forces were operating today inside the village of the terrorist suspect and arrests were made including his brother and sister.  The perpetrator of the attack is still at large.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with North Korea's ruler Kim Jong-un for more than three hours Sunday in Pyongyang.   Pompeo said that Kim is ready to allow international inspectors onto North Korea's nuclear sites including missile launch sites.

President Trump said via Twitter that the Kim meeting with Pompeo was a "good meeting" with "Progress made" on agreements from the Singapore summit earlier this year.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating an accident involving a stretch limousine in upstate New York that killed 20 people.  The stretch limo ran through a "T" intersection 20 miles west of Albany Saturday afternoon and crashed in the parking lot of a country store.   "It sounded like an explosion" a witness said and another thought the vehicle was moving over 60 miles per hour on impact with an unoccupied SUV.

The driver and 17 passengers dead in the limo along with two pedestrians.   The group in the limo were on their way to a birthday party.

The Turkish regime believes that Saudi government critic Jamal Khashoggi was murdered when he visited the Istanbul consulate of Saudi Arabia last Tuesday.

A group of 15 men came in and out of the consulate that day according to video camera surveillance done by Turkish police.

Their theory is that Khashoggi was murdered inside the consulate and the body removed.

Meng Hongwei has resigned as chief of Interpol.    The resignation follows his disappearance on a trip to China,     The Chinese regime says that Meng, a top Communist Party official, is being investigated on "suspicion of breaking the law"

His wife says he sent her an emoji picture of a knife before his disappearance signifying danger.  

A Japanese news report about Meng's disappearance over the weekend from media outlet NHK was blacked out on video screens in China.   That's happens when material offensive to the government of China is disseminated.

There was fighting in northern Syria on Sunday with Syrian military forces attacking units of the Turkistan Islamic Party who were trying to attack Syrian forces.  The attacks endanger the cease-fire in Idlib which is supposed to lead to demilitarized zone by October 15th under Russian and Turkish supervision.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been talking on the phone and will soon meet to discuss security concerns.

Russia has deployed the S-300 air defense system in Syria following the shoot down of a Russian aircraft last month during an Israel air attack.  Russia blames Israel for the incident that killed 15 members of the Russian military.

The Syrian government news agency says the United States led coalition has airlifted ISIS terrorists in Eastern Syria.    They ISIS "leaders" as the they are described by the Syrians are alleged to have been taken to military bases.

Russian officials have accused the US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan of flying supplies to ISIS forces in that country.

Afghanistan neighbors Iran and the Iranians say that ISIS is involved in terrorist attacks there like the bombing of a military parade last month that killed 24.     The Iranians recently fired eight ballistic missiles into ISIS bases in eastern Syria, a move described as dangerous by the US led military coalition.

The wife of Israel's Prime Minister is on trial for fraud.   Sara Netanyahu along with a government official are accused of spending over 100-thousand dollars in government funds on restaurant food for meals at the Prime Minister's residence.

The law says that restaurant food can only be used at the residence if a cook is not available to make meals.  She faces a possible five year sentence if convicted.

Taylor Swift has endorsed Democrats for office in Tennessee.

In an Instagram post, Swift endorsed Phil Bredesen for US Senate over Republican Marsha Blackburn.   She also endorsed Democrat Jim Cooper for a Congressional seat.

She cited "several events in the my life and in the world over the past two years" and also made references to racism and discrimination against people based on gender and sexual orientation.

Swift also urged young people to get involved and register to vote before the Tuesday deadline in Tennessee.

A very shrill message about "climate change" from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, meeting in South Korea.

The 33 page report says there must be dramatic changes in energy, land use, cities and industry or else there will be grave consequences.

It urges individuals to change their habits to prevent what it envisions as a catastrophe.

And the National Hurricane Center says that a hurricane is expected to strike the northeastern Gulf Coast around the middle of this week.   A Hurricane Watch is now in effect for the Florida Panhandle

Tropical Storm Michael is now centered between Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and western Cuba with maximum sustained winds of  70 miles per hour and is moving north expected to become a hurricane today.
