This week President Emmanuel Macron spoke with the top leaders of Lebanon a nation formerly under French colonial rule.

The Christian President Joseph Aoun, the Sunni Muslim Prime Minister Nawar Salam and the Shia Muslim Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri involved in the phone meeting their positions reserved for their communities that comprise various portions of the Lebanese population.

Following the meeting Macron calling on social media for a 'solid ceasefire regime' that would include withdrawal of the Israeli military from southern Lebanon and strengthening the Lebanese Army so it could be the only force with the exclusive right to use lethal force.

This would appear to be a policy reducing the role of Hezbollah in Lebanon with its military capabilities to attack Israel....

Macron seeking a new peacekeeping force for Lebanon when the mandate of the current UNIFIL force expires at the end of the year.
