SUPPORT FREE REPUBLIC
Your host adding his name to the list of those supporting Free Republic this week. The premier conservative online gathering place celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Rush Limbaugh a big user of FR for show prep even used one of my posts on air decades ago.
Where do we go from here your host grew up with preachers on the radio so I heard about Jesus but many of those preachers mixed in the social commentary the politics if you will.
Reverend John Dekker one such host who had an appreciation of the gospel it figured more prominently at times even more than politics in his broadcasts.
Reverend Dekker was on the radio in the 1970's when I first prayed to receive Jesus into my life. I worked in religious broadcasting some of my life and at times encountered a very joyous John Dekker in those circumstances.
He was born in Holland this month back in 1932 on February 14th he passed on December 27, 2012...Reverend John A. Dekker Obituary
So in the tradition of Reverend John Dekker there will be something of the Gospel and something of the contentious issues of our times in this week's post.
Back in the 1970's I studied German in high school and read German magazines in class like "Bunte" in those magazines the schedules for German and Austrian television channels.
On ZDF German television in the 1970's a show called "Disco" with live performances of hit music like this...
"POWER TO ALL OUR FRIENDS'-CLIFF RICHARD
"DANCING QUEEN"-ABBA
"RIVERS OF BABYLON"-BONEY M
"How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?"
That big hit song in Europe back in 1978 only reached Number 30 on the chart here in the USA but the lyrics are straight out of Psalm 137 of the Bible.
"Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright.
Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
The Lord looks down from heaven: he sees all the children of man;
From where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,
he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.
The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue.
Behold the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,
that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you."
PSALM 33 ESV BIBLE
Well Psalm 33 was the message at this service last Sunday I watched this video more than once this week along with my own reading and meditation regarding this psalm...
The Jeffrey Epstein Update it seems like "Hogans Heroes" has come back IMHO so why not the theme from "Hogans Heroes"...
On "Hogans Heroes" Sergeant Schultz always saw things he wanted to forget...
"I know nothing nothing..."
"I see nothing I was not even here, I did not even get up this morning"
SERGEANT SCHULTZ ON HOGANS HEROES
"Video released of a five-hour deposition by retail magnate Les Wexner shows the billionaire repeatedly insisting he knew nothing about Jeffrey Epstein's crimes...."
CNN REPORT ON VICTORIA'S SECRET MAGNATE LES WEXNER'S DEPOSITION TO THE HOUSE GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
