The bubbling tensions between Algeria and France boiling over with a unanimous vote in Algeria's parliament Wednesday condemning France's 130-year colonization of Algeria as a 'state crime'.
There have been many flashpoints including French crackdowns on Algerian government efforts against opponents of its government in France.
But particularly harsh for Algeria has been France's decision to side with Morocco in the long-running dispute over sovereignty in the mineral rich Western Sahara region.
The resolution approved unanimously in the Algerian parliament notes extrajudicial killings and nuclear testing as well as the 'plundering of resources'.
It also spoke of the need for a formal apology from France for its actions during colonial rule but it also demands payment of 'reparations'.
The law to extend France's 2025 budget into the new year promulgated by President Emmanuel Macron. It will provide provisional funding. Expectations are that parliamentary debates in January will lead to a new budget for 2026.
The financial situation is tight social spending pressured by inflation, a rising national debt and the need to expand defense spending in line with the NATO standard set by US President Donald Trump of 5 percent of GDP.
Extended "birth leave" approved by lawmakers to start January 1st delayed by six months. The one to two months leave for parents of newborns now expected in July.
The ability of employers to implement the new leave policy cited in connection with the decision.
