This week Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin visited former President Nicolas Sarkozy being held at the Sante prison in Paris.


Mr. Darmanin said his 45 minute visit was in line with his duties as justice minister which include supervision of prisons.



He discussed the security arrangements for the former president.



Mr. Sarkozy is being held in solitary confinement separate from other prisoners some of whom were arrested for threatening his life...

A court hearing will be held on November 10th regarding a request by Mr. Sarkozy to be released from prison.



NEW TAXES FOR FRANCE'S 2026 BUDGET CONSIDERED IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY YESTERDAY A LIMITED TAX ON HOLDING COMPANIES APPROVED.



BUT A MAJOR TAX ON 'HIGH-NET WORTH' THE 'ZUCMAN TAX' WAS NOT RECEIVED WELL.



IN THE END IT WAS REJECTED.


PRIME MINISTER SEBASTIEN LECORNU DISAGREEING WITH THE PUSH OF THE 'LEFT' FOR SUCH A TAX.

Four Bulgarians convicted for spraying graffiti on a Holocaust memorial in Paris.  The 'red handprint' defacing of the memorial said to have been a Russian action to sow division in France.


It happened last year amid controversy over the Israeli military's offensive in Gaza including mass street protests in France.


Two of the defendants got two-year prison sentences, a third three years and the mastermind of the operation still on the run from authorities given a four-year sentence in absentia.
