Investigating judges in Paris this week ordering a trial for fugitive business executive Carlos Ghosn and France's Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.
Ghosn is the former CEO of Renault-Nissan when the two automakers were merged. Just before their breakup Mr. Ghosn arrested and accused by Japanese authorities of corruption.
Ghosn spirited out of house arrest in Japan and taken to Lebanon where he now enjoys the protection of authorities there.
He is a citizen of Lebanon, France and Brazil.
As for Rachida Dati her reaction was to portray herself as a victim with the Emmanuel Macron government spokesman speaking of the presumption of innocence.
Dati is a powerful politician of the "Right" in France as in "Les Republicains" France's "Mainstream Conservatives".
Dati is positioning herself to be a candidate for Mayor of Paris next year...

And Mélenchon took matters a step further saying humanitarian corridors should be established by France's military to bring aid into Gaza...

On Friday France also contesting Israel's version of the humanitarian situation in Gaza even as it supports Israel's view that Hamas must be out of the picture there.
The joint statement with Britain and Germany said in part:

The most basic needs of the civilian population, including access to water and food, must be met immediately.
The denial of vital humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable"...

The political implications of this not clear the statement defers to the US-Israel position on Hamas rule in Gaza.
