OREGON STANDOFF-LAVOY FINICUM:  EVIDENCE HEARINGS FOR FBI AGENT MOVING INTO FINAL ARGUMENTS

Testimony from expert witnesses in the case of FBI Agent W. Joseph Astarita that his lawyers don't want on the stand at trial was reported to have concluded today.

Astarita is charged with lying five times about firing two shots in the direction of LaVoy Finicum moments before Finicum was killed by Oregon State Police on January 26, 2016 in Harney County, Oregon. during the Oregon Standoff protest.

The two experts who are part of the prosecution's case were questioned about their methods by the defense.  One of them worked for the Oregon State Police in the initial shooting investigation and another was hired by the federal government to back up the findings of the first.

"Oregon Live" reports that there is a three degree trajectory difference in their analysis of the area where a bullet was fired from.

The defense brought in witnesses of their own as well.   A former forensic scientist and college statistics professor Andrew Bray disputed the margin of error used by the prosecution's witness Michael Haag.

Senior US District Judge Robert E. Jones will make the final call on what evidence will be allowed at trial after hearing final arguments from the prosecution and defense in the case.

No word yet on when he will make a ruling
