ITALY BREAKING:  PRESIDENT ACCEPTS FIVE STAR-LEAGUE COALITION NOMINEE FOR PRIME MINISTER 

Law professor Giuseppe Conte will lead a new Italian government as President Sergio Mattarella gave consent for him to form a new government.

Conte appeared before the media outside the president's office at 130pm Eastern (730pm Italian time) to make the announcement.

News reports say that Conte will now draw up a list of cabinet ministers for presidential approval.
