Last Sunday Premier Francois Bayrou said there's no turning back when it comes to age 64 as the new standard for pensions.
Bayrou saying there will not be a return to age 62.
A previous government of President Emmanuel Macron pushing the change to age 64 by 2030 through in the name of saving money.
Now with increased defense spending a certainty Bayrou's statement a reflection of the position the government finds itself it.
Money was already tight but now the decision to ramp up defense spending in Europe amidst a struggle with debt in France's budget seeming to settle any notion of revisiting the pension age issue.
In response to his comments CGT trade union chief Sophie Binet pulling out of talks with Mr. Bayrou about pensions.
Binet saying Bayrou's decision to take the age-62 pension issue off the table takes away the greatest concern French workers have about pensions...
As US President Donald Trump pushes to end the Ukraine War President Emmanuel Macron is in the front ranks of leaders seeking to float ideas of their own that appear to conflict with Mr. Trump's plans.
Macron among the leaders meeting Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky this week.
Mr. Macron planning to host another such meeting next Thursday in Paris.
The meetings being sold as ones that solidify a path to a ceasefire in the Ukraine War...
