Premier Michel Barnier appeared on TF 1 television's 8 pm news this week to say any censure of his government would send tremors through the markets and harm France's economy.
A majority of the National Assembly's members came into this week clearly opposed to his 2025 budget that may be forced through by President Macron using Article 49.3 of the constitution.
Marine Le Pen who leads the National Rally faction in the assembly adding her voice to those opposing the budget.
Energy taxes in the budget one aspect criticized.
But on Thursday the National Rally won on policy as Mr. Barnier backed away from the electricity taxation proposal.
In addition, Barnier proposed a significant reduction in government medical assistance to 'undocumented immigrants' policy that is more to the liking of the RN.
Marine Le Pen indicating that Barnier has until Monday to deal with the "red lines" laid down by the National Rally which also include a backdown from the retirement age of 64 that has been imposed by President Macron.
Meanwhile another question broached in opinion polling and the mainstream media is the notion of President Emmanuel Macron putting in his resignation to trigger early Presidential elections in France.
63 percent of those polled favoring such a scenario if the government is censured.
Many politicians from the Left, Right and French Overseas territories have spoke in favor of Macron's resignation.

A hearty group of protesters out in the cold in Paris today leaving from the Basilica of Saint-Denis marching towards Montmartre where there is a 430-foot-high hill an area rich in artistic history.
Drums near the front of the procession led by a yellow banner. Palestinian flags displayed along with the French flag.
A white flag with a dove symbolizing peace carried. Also, a long white banner was carried.
Others protest banners and signs displayed as the group in dozens made their way through the streets into the late afternoon sunset.

Also word this weekend that US President-Elect Donald Trump has nominated Charles Kushner to be Ambassador to France. Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner. was pardoned by Mr. Trump in December of 2020 after being convicted of charges involving tax evasion and illegal campaign contributions.
