PROTESTERS IN FRANCE OPPOSING PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON'S PENSION REFORM SCHEME SATURDAY 2/11/2023
This week when Left member of the National Assembly Thomas Portes posed with his foot on a ball bearing the likeness of Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt outrage from the supporters of President Emmanuel Macron amplified by the mainstream media.
A recurring theme was that this action signified a:
"call to violence"
by opponents of President Macron's pension reform scheme.
ON FRIDAY EVENING A MAJORITY OF DEPUTIES VOTED TO EXCLUDE MR. PORTES FROM THE ASSEMBLY FOR 15 DAYS.
One weapon in the mainstream media arsenal that supports government policies in Western nations like France is public opinion polling.
This week pollsters found 72 percent (a majority) supporting continuing strikes and protest against Macron's pension plan. Not good news for the government.
But another polling question was turned to the government's advantage because it found that only 41 percent of the respondents wanted tougher methods of protest than the current street marches and selective strikes by labor unions.
So the reporting pointing to a minority of 41 percent wanting the pension protests to be more 'radical' and 'extreme'.
On Friday National Rally leader in the National Assembly Marine Le Pen saying that the "Left" alliance in her words "goes further and further" with the controversy regarding Mr. Portes putting his foot on the ball bearing the likeness of the government cabinet minister.
The themes of mainstream media going into today's protest the notion of violent or extreme actions from pension reform opponents and the notion of a decline in the number of protesters based on the official government number of 800,000 for last Tuesday's protests.

The protest movement in full swing against the pension reform plan the next day of national protests and strikes is Thursday.
The government steadily moving forward in the National Assembly but the eventual outcome not certain with the government lacking a majority and needing Les Republicains (Mainstream Right) members to get the legislation through.
Otherwise the government's only option to get the legislation activation of Article 49.3 of the Constitution allowing the President to pass legislation without legislative approval.
And for now that's the story of France and the Yellow Vests for this week.
