OREGON STANDOFF FBI AGENT TRIAL:  OREGON TROOPER CALLED AGENT ASTARITA 'BLACKBEARD', TROOPER WHO KILLED LAVOY UNMASKED

"Before someone goes and hangs this guy, think of this for a minute.  The threat assessment reports that this guy read and all the information and all the briefings that this guy was required to listen to were all lies from the FBI and Washington DC.  This guy was told that the people at the refuge were the most dangerous people in American history..."

Ammon Bundy's Facebook reaction late Tuesday 7/31/2018 to the revelation of the name of the Oregon State Trooper who killed LaVoy Finicum (Captain Casey Codding)

There were only enough prosecution witnesses to last half a day today.  Jurors spent part of the day looking at videos.

But in the morning,  Oregon State Police Trooper Jason Perrizo took the stand and said he referred to the accused FBI Agent, W. Joseph Astarita, as "Blackbeard" at the scene after LaVoy Finicum was killed and Ryan Bundy injured.

Trooper Perrizo said that Astarita had a thick dark beard that day.  He looks a lot more clean cut in the courtroom now.

Perrizo described Astarita as "spun up" in the aftermath of the deadly shooting that also injured Ryan Bundy.   Newly revealed dashcam video from an OSP truck as the scene showed Astarita appearing to check out Ryan Bundy's injured shoulder and knocking his cowboy hat off as Bundy was handcuffed and on his knees.

The defense claims Astarita was agitated because he was shouting commands for the others in Finicum's truck to surrender.

But there was a major development on Tuesday.  Maxine Bernstein of "OregonLive" in her reporting this week mentioned security issues being under discussion Monday and Tuesday by US District Judge Robert E. Jones and lawyers on both sides with the trooper who killed LaVoy Finicum being escorted out of the courtroom following his testimony on Monday.

It turns out that a courtroom slip up allowed the name of the Oregon State Police trooper who killed LaVoy Finicum to slip out into the public domain with social media posts late Tuesday night revealing the name of Casey Codding, who was promoted from the rank of Lieutenant to Captain after he killed LaVoy.

Trooper Bob Olson's use of the trooper's last name during Tuesday's testimony was apparently all it took for others to figure out and release Codding's name to the world Tuesday night.

Ammon Bundy reacted to the blistering post of B.J. Soper of the Pacific Patriots Network, a group that did not support Bundy's decision to stage the Oregon Standoff protest.

Soper and the PPN often interjected themselves into the protest from time to time with highly emotional and often false information regarding the situation, often openly communicating and confiding with the FBI side of the confrontation.  Elements associated with PPN literally cut and ran from areas near the protest site as the FBI led violence broke out that killed LaVoy Finicum and injured Ryan Bundy on January 26, 2016.

Ammon Bundy's reaction included this in part:

"He is guilty of murder, but let us not forget who amped him up, who lied to him, who manipulated him to believe that ranchers and family men are the greatest enemy to his country..."

"I pray for this man and hope he can see what he is doing.  He is a brainwashed man who has been fed lies...."

"Those that have destroyed the freedoms of this people have gotten control of the police forces..."

He urged everyone to understand that Captain Codding operated under false information about the nature of the protest and the people involved in it he confronted at the roadblock on January 26th, 2016.

Maxine Bernstein of "OregonLive" reported tonight that the Oregon State Police are declining comment on the outing of the killer, called "Officer 1" at the trial.
