A federal jury in Portland, Oregon found FBI Agent Joseph Astarita not guilty of lying about firing two shots during a deadly law enforcement operation against Oregon Standoff protestors who occupied a federal wildlife refuge in January 2016.

Civil lawsuits have been filed in connection with the "felony traffic stop" operation that killed protestor LaVoy Finicum and injured another protestor, Ryan Bundy.   While Oregon State Police killed Finicum, the FBI agent acquitted Friday is believed to have injured Bundy.

The evidence of witnesses provided during the trial is expected to help the plaintiffs in their suits against the federal, state and local officials and law enforcement agencies involved.

A California jury has ordered the chemical company Monsanto to pay a California man 289 million dollars in damages for causing his cancer.   The jury found that Monsanto knew its Roundup and RangerPro weedkillers were dangerous.

A Monsanto official said the jury got it wrong and that the company will appeal the ruling.

The jury decision against the chemical company is expected to trigger more lawsuits.

Late word tonight that a turboprop passenger aircraft was stolen by an airline employee at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.   The plane was intercepted by fighter aircraft and did some acrobatic manuevers before crashing on an island in southern Puget Sound.    The man piloting the aircraft was reported in communication with ground control saying he was unable to land the plane,

The Syrian government launched dozens of air strikes and shelling attacks across three northern provinces Friday amid expectations of a massive offensive against the last portions of the country held by jihadist opposition forces.

The jihadists, funded and supported by foreign governments directly and indirectly including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Kingdom and United States, have suffered a string of defeats from the forces of President Bashar Assad's regime, backed by Iran and Russia.

President Trump has announced new tariffs on Turkish metal products via Twitter Friday.   The Turkish government is being sanctioned for its prosecution of an American pastor.  The government of Turkey is seeking the extradition of a Muslim cleric living in the United States, Fetullah Gullen.

They claim Gullen is behind a coup attempt in 2016.  The president's tweet said "Our relations with Turkey are not good at this time".

Turkey vows to fight but its currency, the lira is falling in relation to the US dollar.  It lost 20 percent of its value on Friday.

Four are dead in the Atlantic Canadian city of Fredricton, New Brunswick, including two local police officers.   They were shot Friday morning by a 48-year old suspect, who is being treated for serious injuries.

Authorities have no motive with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police conducting the investigation.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect across large portions of Northern California through Saturday with high wind gusts expected that could cause rapid increases in wildfire activity.

Firefighters continue to fight blazes that have forced mass evacuations and destroyed homes there and another fire is causing similar problems in Orange County in southern California.  That blaze is considered an arson with a 51 year old suspect in custody.

Police and protestors clashed in Romania on Friday.  Thousands took to the streets with objects thrown at police who responded with tear gas, pepper spray and water cannon.   Reports say 100 protestors and ten police were injured.

The protestors want the government to resign citing the corrupt rule of the Social Democratic Party which is believed to have forced the country's president to dismiss an anti-corruption prosecutor last month.
