BUNKERVILLE STANDOFF:  THREE IN PRISON, FOUR FACING TRIAL, CLIVEN BUNDY LAWSUIT

"***UPDATE ON GREG***

January 25 at 550pm

Got an email dated today early this morning.  Apparently the BOP doesn't like getting phone calls about him.  He said he got his ass chewed out yesterday.

Like everything else the government does...we are just suppose to accept it and not say anything!  Greg said all he can do is suffer until it goes through its paces.

Then he said something that worries me...he said he is losing it big time.  Please keep praying for him."

There are now three men in prison  (two after conviction by a jury, one after a guilty plea) in connection with the Bunkerville Standoff.   None of them had knowledge or or use of the evidence withheld by the federal government that led to charges being dropped against Cliven Bundy and three others in the third trial.

The three men are Greg Burleson (68 year sentence), Todd Engel (convicted, facing sentencing) and Jerry DeLemus (guilty plea, 87 month sentence).

Greg Burleson has been sent to a federal prison in Pennsylvania (Allenwood) and he currently has a court appointed lawyer telling him in essence "Oops I forgot to file your appeal within a 14 day deadline".

Burleson has medical issues and suffered from a seizure recently.  He says prison officials have been giving him a hard time because supporters have called the prison out of concern for his health.

Todd Engel has decided to file an appeal with a private lawyer but the cost there is 25-thousand dollars with supporters trying to raise the money.    At least 6,215 dollars has been raised so far.  Its not yet clear what kind of sentence the judge will hand out with speculation anywhere from 12 years to the maximum of 30 years.

Jerry DeLemus sits in the Devens federal prison in Massachusetts near his home in New Hamsphire.   DeLemus co-chaired the New Hampshire Veterans Coalition for Donald Trump during the 2016 primary.   He was berated at his sentencing last year by US District Judge Gloria Navarro as a "vigilante bully" and got 15 months tacked onto his sentence above the six years recommended by the prosecution.

His wife Susan is working with lawyers to find out what avenue of appeal he has.

Four men still face trial February 26th in US District Court in Las Vegas.   Dave Bundy, Mel Bundy, Joe O'Shaugnessy, and Jason Woods are set for a pretrial "calendar call" on February 8th.  Defense lawyers are hoping to get charges dismissed but that is far from certain.   Judge Gloria Navarro appears to be of the opinion that with all the evidence apparently out in open now, the four can be tried.

Last Thurday Cliven Bundy filed a lawsuit in Nevada  in state court challenging Barack Obama's designation of a national monument on his land in 2016.   The suit says the monument designation is "illegal" and "unlawful".

Assisting Cliven Bundy in the lawsuit is judicial activist Larry Klayman.

The Obama Administration designated Bundy Ranch and surrounding areas a national monument in 2016.

The Trump Administration Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has announced in the name of President Trump that only 15 percent of the lands in the area will be used for a national monument.

When he visited the Bundy Ranch area last summer Zinke did not meet with the Bundy family, but did meet with environmentalists who are hostile to the Bundy's.
