OREGON STANDOFF UPDATE: DUANE EHMER SENTENCED AFTER RIGGED TRIAL CONVICTION

When the first Oregon Standoff trial of leaders of the early 2016 protest ended with not guilty verdicts for all seven defendants plus the tackling, tasing and arrest of Ammon Bundy's defense attorney Marcus Mumford, the jury was then taken to a meeting with US District Judge Anna J. Brown.

Judge Brown questioned the jury as to their reasoning behind the not guilty verdicts.

This was the beginning of a rigged process for the trial of the second group of defendants.

The federal prosecutors tacked misdemeanor charges onto the felony ones, with Judge Brown holding a bench trial on those charges instead of a jury one.

During the second trial, Judge Brown limited defense witnesses and arguments in ways she didn't in the first trial.

One of those who ended up being convicted in that trial, Duane Ehmer of Irrigon, Oregon, was sentenced today to one year and one day in prison.   Before passing sentence, Judge Brown rejected a push by the prosecutor to increase the sentence under a "terrorism enhancement"

Ehmer has agreed to pay 10,000 dollars in restitution for digging the trench on January 27, 2016.  His purpose was defensive with fear of an imminent FBI assault after the violent "felony traffic stop" the day before that killed LaVoy Finicum and injured Ryan Bundy.

Ehmer is supposed to report to prison on January 24th.  His lawyer said he intends to appeal.
