After President Emmanuel Macron met with Egyptian and Jordanian leaders regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and all three leaders held a conversation by phone with US President Donald Trump, Mr. Macron pointed to possible French recognition of a Palestinian state in the coming months.
But that recognition is linked to some Arab countries recognizing Israel with the mutual recognition to take place in connection with a conference at the United Nations in New York in June.
The notion of Arab states like Saudi Arabia and nearby Gulf countries recognizing Israel has been on President Trump's radar for many years in conjunction with the "Abraham Accords".
In a raucous speech at the UN General Assembly last fall Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alluded to the notion of close ties between Israel, Saudi Arabia and Gulf Arab nations alongside the marginalization and decimation of Iran.
That Netanyahu speech followed immediately by Israel's pager attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon a movement closely aligned to Iran in the former French administered territory.

It appears that Mr. Macron is a silent partner in events that could involve military action against Iran in the coming months that may set the stage for the new partnership of Israel and nearby wealthy Arab countries.
Israel has applied political pressure on Mr. Macron by inviting National Rally President Jordan Bardella and the niece of Marine Le Pen, Marion Marechal, to a recent Antisemitism conference in Jerusalem that was controversial over the inclusion of numerous nationalist 'far-right' political personalities from across Europe.
The Left in France actively protesting today across the country with dozens of 'rule of law' rallies designed to support the conviction and sentence handed down to Marine Le Pen over misuse of European Parliament funds.

Polling data in France this weekend showing 67 percent disapproving of President Macron's current Prime Minister Francois Bayrou.
Mr. Bayrou will testify next month before a parliamentary commission about his knowledge regarding a school sex abuse scandal from the 1990's. Bayrou disappointed supporters in President Macron's camp by expressing his concern over the prosecution and conviction of Marine Le Pen recently.
And on the major issue of the hour for the world the economic confrontation between the US and China Bayrou came down in favor of the US.
