NERVE AGENT LATEST: BRITISH HOME SECRETARY SAYS RUSSIA 'MUST EXPLAIN'
"It is now time that the Russian state comes forward and explains exactly what has gone on"
British Home Secretary Sajid Javid 7/5/2018
After chairing a meeting of the COBRA committee on national security matters today the British Home Secretary Sajid Javid, said to be a leading candidate to be the UK's next Prime Minister, took aim at Russia in connection with the latest incident that caused a British couple to become critically ill when he spoke in the House of Commons.
Javid claimed that Russia was using the UK as a "poison dumping ground".
A spokesman for the Russia Embassy said any notion of Russian involvement was "merely speculative".
Police in the UK are saying they believe that Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess handled an 'unknown "contaminated item".
British media speculated on what that item might be with Friday's headline in "The Times" having "poison syringe" in it while the "Metro" newspaper headlined "Novichok 'on a cigarette butt'"
But many of the headlines focus on Brexit and the increasingly disturbing situation as the Prime Minister, Theresa May, tries to shove a steadily watered down Brexit into the throats of her cabinet and the Conservative Party.
Her critical meeting with her cabinet at the Prime Minister's country home, Checkers, begins in hours.
