Great instrumental music to open up the night as we move towards the end of summer 2019.

My summer routine began to shift dramatically in recent days and it will affect posts here on the blog and reposts to Free Republic.

But posting will continue.    You can sure of that.

Woodstock was deep into its third day 50 years ago tonight with the music as I understand it continuing into Monday morning August 18th at around 8:30.   Jimi Hendrix the final performer offering up his version of our national anthem......

The media was onto the story and it made it to the television news the cutting edge of media 50 year ago.

I linked to CBS the other night and their spin on Woodstock.    The "Huntley-Brinkley Report" on NBC Monday August 18th Chet Huntley introduces the story as reported by Lem Tucker, who ended up working for all three of the big networks during his career.....

NBC-TV WOODSTOCK 8-18-1969

Also the ABC version of Woodstock with the legendary Frank Reynolds intoducing with commentary from the legendary Howard K. Smith.....

ABC-TV WOODSTOCK 8-18-1969

Control population was Howard K. Smith's tagline to Woodstock but we are still here and still surviving with our much greater population 50 years later.

If there's a complaint its about the importation of humanity into our midst from other nations that is the societal irritant of our times.

No violence it was noted in that news reporting but the Antifa leftists in Portland are sitting down in the street as of around 415 to 430 pm Portland Time, 715 to 730 pm Eastern.

Portland Police declaring an unlawful assembly...

This late video.....FAR-LEFT PROTESTERS SIT IN PORTLAND STREET

Around 4 PM Portland time some confrontational scenes downtown as the Antifa were chasing down victims.....FISTS FLY.........

Earlier in the day they found "prey" among their opponents and Andy Ngo, himself attacked by the leftists in Portland less than two months ago, posting video as you scroll down the Twitter link to the latest video....LINK

Some 50 years ago this group was around performing called "Peppermint Rainbow" from Baltimore...

Talk of a peace deal in Afghanistan with the US representative holding talks with the Taliban on multiple occasions in recent months.

But the violence continues there with a wedding hall explosion in the capital of Kabul caused by a suicide bomber.

The BBC noting in its reporting that Shia Muslims were being targeted by Sunni Muslims and there was a comment from another news source suggesting dozens of dead and wounded.

It happened Saturday afternoon Eastern US time and this is the CNN version...LINK

Updating that 63 dead and 180 wounded in the attack in Afghanistan.

Time to say goodnight.     The spin on the Portland protests portrays one side as the aggressor while the other side appears to be committing the acts of violence.

I guess that's the problem with political activism, the consuming rage and anger.   The Antifa seem to be that way.

Its amazing how in Portland the US Attorney got involved and provided law enforcement assistance for the local authorities for what seemed to be a very poor job of maintaining order.

But I do think Mayor Wheeler wants Portland to be a place where business can be done without disruptions.   The business community puts pressure on him in that direction and the Chamber of Commerce stood behind the mayor when he tried to gain authority from city council unsuccessfully to have authority to ban demonstrations.

Pro-Beijing protesters in Canada disrupting a rally in support of Hong Kong protesters.

That story from CTV News in Canada at the link below.

Good Night everyone.   Hope you find some sanity and sobriety out there.
