OREGON STANDOFF:  ROAD NAMED IN HONOR OF LAVOY FINICUM IN MOHAVE COUNTY, ARIZONA

Last Monday the Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to honor Oregon Standoff protest spokesman Robert "LaVoy" Finicum by renaming a portion of road.

The two-mile stretch of Yellowstone Road will now be called LaVoy Finicum Road.

Supporters of the name change said that LaVoy "had the courage to stand up for what he believed in" as reported by "OregonLive" which also reported that those opposed expressed the opinion "he went about things the wrong way".

Finicum was shot and killed during a "felony traffic stop" operation run by the FBI and supported by state and local police along US Route 395 in Harney County, Oregon.

Six shots were fired by Oregon State Police and two originally unaccounted for but then linked to FBI agent W. Joseph Astarita, who's charged with lying about firing the first two shots during the incident.

Astarita's trial date has been moved back twice, its now set for May 8th, 2018.

Good move by local officials in Arizona.

Those who supported the name change were right about LaVoy having the courage to stand up for what he believed in.

Finicum was part of a protest launched by Ammon Bundy in the name of  "loving thy neighbor" as in Oregon ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond, jailed on a mandatory five year sentence as terrorists for lighting a backfire to protect their property.

LaVoy Finicum made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom for fellow Americans.  He deserves even more honor and especially some justice for his killing.

Those who opposed by saying LaVoy went about it the wrong way have been proven wrong since people arrested during the "felony traffic stop" were found NOT GUILTY of felony charges by a jury on October 27th last year.
