SWEDEN ELECTION BREAKING:  GAINS PROJECTED FOR SWEDEN DEMOCRATS, 'RIGHT' AND 'LEFT'  SHORT OF MAJORITY

(UPDATED AND REVISED AT 1030PM EASTERN TIME)

"Reacting to the exit polls, Peter Lundgren, an SD member of the European Parliament told the BBC: 'They can no longer ignore us.  They will have to let us in the discussions about how to form a new government in Sweden.'"

                                                     BBC News-9-9-2018

Speaking to supporters at an election night rally, Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Akesson said:

"We will increase our seats in parliament and we will gain huge influence over what happens in Sweden during the coming weeks, months and years"

The Sweden Democrats gained 17.6 percent of the popular vote in the 2018 election, up from 12.9 percent last time in 2014.

The early projection via exit polling was that neither the left nor the right would command a majority in Sweden's proportionally elected parliament:

The "Center-Right"  39,6 percent
The "Center-Left"    39.4 percent
Sweden Democrats  19.2 percent

The SVT (Swedish Television) projection showed the Social Democrats at 26.2 percent, the Sweden Democrats at 19.2 percent and the Moderate Party at 17.8 percent.

But final results came out slightly different with a rise in support for the other parties and less support for the Sweden Democrats.

But it remains clear that the two Uniparty blocks of "Left" and "Right" are unable to command a majority in the parliament with the Sweden Democrats holding the balance of power.

The Sweden Democrats endured a massive barrage of negative propaganda in the last days of the campaign including the extremism and racism allegations along with the foreign influence allegations (Aka "Russian influence) which may ended up reducing the number of their votes on election day.
