Former British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says the UK will get 'diddly squat'  with Prime Minister Theresa May's plans for withdrawl from the European Union.   In his "Daily Telegraph" column, Johnson said the Brexit plan Mrs. May unveiled in July would be a disaster for the country.

Johnson resigned his post after May announced the plan for negotiations with the European Union.

With six days to go until Sweden's General Election there are conflicting numbers in a host of polls with two polls showing a lead for the anti-European Union, anti-mass immigration Sweden Democrats.

In Sweden's proportional system of electing its parliament the winning party would have to find coalition partners and the traditional alliances of "Left" and "Right" parties are falling short of 40 percent in opinion polls.

To keep the Sweden Democrats out of government, a broad alliance of various parties would be needed to find a majority in the parliament.

On this Labor Day, President Trump tweeting this morning about record low unemployment in the United States and the great potential as bad trade deals are fixed.   The President said: "The Worker in America is doing better than ever before, Celebrate Labor Day!"

Jordan says it rejects any proposal by the United States for a Palestinian confederation with Jordan.

The government spokesman says Jordan still wants a two-state solution that doesn't involve Jordanian territory.

The United States is working on a proposal for an Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement.

From the war in Yemen the Houthi rebels say they launched a missile into southern Saudi Arabia while the Saudis say they intercepted it.     The rebel side also says that drones were used to attack Sudanese soldiers in Saudi Arabia who are part of the coalition fighting the Iranian backed Houthis.

Two died in the explosions at the airport near Damascus, Syria Saturday night.  The government news agency says the explosions were accidental.   A pro-Syrian government source says captured opposition weapons and ammunition were stored in the building that was destroyed.

A suicide bomber attacked a government office in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu Sunday.   At least six were killed including two children and 14 injured.   The explosion caused a nearby school to collapse.

The National Hurricane Center issued an advisory at 830am Eastern time on Tropical Storm Gordon, which has formed near the Florida Keys.   Maximum sustained winds are 45 miles per hour.  Some strengthening is expected in the next 48 hours.

Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for parts of the Keys and the west coast of Florida but the storm's path is expected to reach the mid-Gulf coast by tomorrow evening or night.   Tropical Storm Warnings are also in effect on the Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana coast east of Morgan City.

Argentina is expected to roll out budget cuts today to comply with terms for a 50 billion dollar loan from the International Monetary Fund.    Argentine President Mauricio Macri decided last week that the loan was needed to shore up confidence in the country which has a serious debt problem.   The value of Argentina's peso in relation to the US dollar has declined 50 percent so far this year.
