OREGON STANDOFF: RYAN PAYNE HEARING, LAVOY FINICUM ANNIVERSARY AND MORE
Tomorrow (Tuesday January 23rd) Ryan Payne will appear at a detention hearing in US District Court in Portland. Payne is now jailed in Portland after the charges against him in connection with the Bunkerville Standoff were dismissed.
Payne was convicted in the rigged second Oregon Standoff trial and is awaiting his February 27th sentencing. Evidence was limited and charges were expanded after the seven defendants in the first trial were found not guilty by a jury. Working to rig the trial were US District Judge Anna J. Brown and the office of Acting US Attorney Billy Williams.
Williams has now been nominated by President Trump to be the permanent US Attorney in Portland with the support of Democrat Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley of Oregon.
On Wednesday, Jake Ryan will be sentenced in connection with the Oregon Standoff. Ryan is from Plains, Montana. His mother Roxsanna helped to organize the "Freedom and Property" event last Saturday in Paradise, Montana where Cliven Bundy, Ryan Bundy and others spoke.
Last week Jon Ritzheimer, sentenced to one year and one day in prison, reported to prison in Arizona. Ritzheimer was ordered to report early after he and Ryan Payne went to Bundy Ranch last month.
This Friday (January 26th) marks the second anniversary of the killing of LaVoy Finicum alongside US Route 395 in Harney County. Ryan Bundy was riding in LaVoy's truck and was injured right before LaVoy was killed.
Bundy told the meeting in Montana Saturday night "They tried to kill me"
We still don't know the names of the Oregon State Police snipers involved. Their names are being kept secret. An FBI agent who is being charged with lying about firing shots at LaVoy's truck is suspected of firing the shot that left shrapnel in Ryan Bundy's shoulder.
The FBI agent's shots were the first one's fired and Shawna Cox, who rode in the truck and made a video of what was happening said LaVoy Finicum left the truck to draw fire away from Ryan Bundy.
