FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 257: REACTION TO HAMAS ATTACK ON ISRAEL, GOVERNMENT PUSHES LAW AND ORDER, SOCIETAL DIVISION, TERORISM EMERGENCY, PROTEST SUPPRESSED

Reacting to last weekend's attack on Israel President Emmanuel Macron condemning the attacks on civilians and the taking of hostages.


The president of France's leading opposition force the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, expressing "totalist solidarity" with Israel stating that "crimes against humanity" took place last weekend.


The left-wing New Anti-Capitalist Party targeted for "glorifying terrorism" by French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.


The NPA, which usually gets about one percent of the vote in first round presidential elections in France, said it supports "the Palestinians and the means of struggle they have chosen to resist".


Darmanin met with leaders of Jewish groups in France threatening to dissolve any group in France that was considered to be "glorifying terrorism".



ON THURSDAY MR. DARAMANIN, SUGGESTED AS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN 2027, ORDERED ALL PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTS IN FRANCE BANNED.



HE ALSO ORDERED ARRESTS OF THOSE ORGANIZING SUCH PROTESTS AND 'TROUBLEMAKERS' ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROTESTS.



SEVERAL THOUSAND PRO-PALESTINIAN DEMONSTRATORS CAME OUT AT THE PLACE DE LA REPUBLIQUE IN PARIS ON THURSDAY EVENING ANYWAY.

A 24-year old Chechen Muslim suspect from Russia taken into custody.



This weekend 10 others being questioned including the family members of the suspect.



The led to the terrorism alert level in France being raised to its highest level.


Trade unions staging a day of protest in France against President Macron's imposition of pension reform.


The government came down with an estimate of 125-150 thousand people participating in them.

THERE IS A STRONG FEAR OF VIOLENCE RAISED BY THE NOTION THAT THE HORRIFIC EVENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST WILL SPILL OVER ONTO FRENCH STREETS.



THIS FEAR OF COMING ONTO THE STREETS AND GATHERING FOR PROTEST NOT SEEN SINCE THE DAYS OF THE COVID SCARE IN 2020 AND 2021.
