NEXTRUSH UNPLUGGED: SATURDAY NIGHT VERSION

Music Link:

Welcome to the summertime in 2019, remembering 50 year ago the summer of 1969.    A lot to remember.

I don't recall although I was paying attention to news on television back then the event in New York City called the "Stonewall Riots".    It was a weekend thing and I guess with all the protests going on in general one more almost seemed redundant.

But alongside the shouts against the war in Vietnam or "Black Power" when it came to race we now had shouts of "Gay Power" 50 years ago today.

Wikipedia details the story of "Stonewall".....LINK

And so here we are today 50 years later with debate about sexuality and rage and anger and fear and other emotions around us.

Lets go to Hamilton, Ontario in Canada where 20 some protesters who identify as LGBTQ came to the mayor's house on Friday morning at 715 for a demonstration that led to one arrest.

There was a scuffle earlier this month between LGBTQ protesters and other groups that led to five arrests in Hamilton.

The protesters claiming with signs;

"Mayor doesn't care about Queer People"

 Mayor Fred Eisenberger saying:

"Harrassment of my family, my neighbors or anyone is crossing the line."

The story from CTV News in Canada......LINK

There's music to remember from 50 years ago in the summer of 1969 and I didn't pay a lot of attention to popular music then.   Television was my place for entertainment.   Its in my adult life that I've looked back to what was popular in the summer of 69.....

'COLOR HIM FATHER'-THE WINSTONS

'CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION'-TOMMY JAMES AND THE SHONDELLS

'GOOD MORNING STARSHINE'-OLIVER

Some big songs all working their way into the Top 10 as we moved out of June and into July 1969.

Sir Elton John getting into it with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Russian approach to  LGBTQ issues in general and the censorship of his "Rocketman" movie biography in particular.

Putin made his views clear in the "Financial Times" interview expressing his view that everyone should live in harmony but that some views should not be forced onto society and that is evidence of "liberalism" failing in the West...

'FINANCIAL TIMES' VLADIMIR PUTIN INTERVIEW 6/27/2019

I mentioned in the news summary posted Friday into Saturday when Putin met President Trump that it's "arguable" that they are the most hated leaders in the world today.....

Music Links:

'ONE'-THREE DOG NIGHT

'BAD MOON RISING'-CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL

'LOVE THEME FROM ROMEO AND JULIET'-HENRY MANCINI

Music from "Romeo and Juliet" with Henry Mancini and His Orchestra one of the popular songs from 50 years ago tonight.

Putin and Trump get their hate like Emmanuel Goldstein did in "1984" but another hated political figure Number 3 on my list seems to be Jeremy Corbyn of Britain's Labor Party.

The latest smearing of him is about his health and it comes from civil servants in the British government and Corbyn thinks the smearing needs to be investigated.

The BBC spins the story.....LINK

Corbyn gets a lot of crap thrown on him and its not that I like his policies per se but its like a giant smear machine is ginned up against this man.

Its dam*ed obvious, too dam*ed obvious.

More about Corbyn that I note with an "Amen" is his willingness to confront the government of Theresa May over its selling of arms to Saudi Arabia and the Saudi conduct of the war in Yemen.   Just like President Trump does for money, well Mrs. May is doing it, too.

Countries deep in the hole need to make money somewhere and Saudi Arabia and the UAE etc. etc. have money.

"The Independent" in the UK reports on Prime Minister May's meeting the Crown Prince Mohammed bin-Salman at the G 20 and Corbyn's criticism.

'THE INDEPENDENT'-THERESA MAY AND MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN WITH JEREMY CORBYN CRITICISM

This brings up back to the Democrats running for President in our country and one of them who's served in uniform willing to link the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Al-Qaeda and to 9/11 and there are not many willing to go there because of Saudi money and power......LINK

And as you watch this longer clip of Tulsi Gabbard from the Democrats debate you get the picture as to why folks like Jeremy Corbyn in the UK get trashed so hard so often.

Forget your Russian collusion how about your Muslim collusion with the United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with their Crown Princes and financial power.

'LOVE CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY'-MERCY

'ISRAELITES'-DESMOND DEKKER

'IN THE GHETTO'-ELVIS PRESLEY

And some more of the hits being played on the radio 50 years ago tonight....

Moving onto the here and now.....

Tulsi Gabbard was talking about Afghanistan in that long video clip and President Trump has an Afghanistan representative and the talks between the US and the Taliban resuming Saturday in another rich oil kingdom, Qatar.   But more deadly fighting in that country as well.

The "New York Times" has the story....LINK

Attacks attempted on Saudi Arabia from the Houthi rebels in Yemen on an airport and late Saturday night a report from "Al Arabiya" news channel saying a residential area in southern Asir was the target of a drone that was intercepted....

Watch out for mass protests against military rule in Sudan in the coming hours.   The authorities raiding an opposition office Saturday.    More from the BBC.......LINK

The German tabloid "Bild" reporting that foreign intelligence agencies are looking for Chancellor Angela Merkel's medical records after two recent shaking incidents.    One when it was said she was dehydrated the other inside where there was air conditioning raising speculation as to what's going on with her health.

And yes President Trump in South Korea headed for the DMZ later with that offer to Kim Jong-un to come down and meet him there.

Good Night.   God Bless.    Hope you find the next right thing.
