SAUDI ARABIA:  WE MAY NOT BOW DOWN TO MECCA BUT WE DO BEND OVER FOR RIYADH

"I just spoke with the King of Saudi Arabia who denies any knowledge of what took place in regard to as he said 'his Saudi Arabian citizen'.... and he firmly denies that....

....it sounded to me like these could have been rogue killers, who knows...…"

"This country has been living in the pocket of the Saudi despotism for decades.  Our crazy policy in Syria, of supporting jihadis we would lock up if we found them in Birmingham, was adopted to please the Saudis.

We are more or less silent about their police state repressions.  We swallow our revulsion at the cruel little war they are conducting in Yemen, and side with them in their wild sectarian confrontation with Iran.

Our Royal Family is ceaselessly forced to pay court to the rulers of Riyadh.  Flags in London fly at half-mast if a Saudi king dies....."

"When I arrived in SA many years ago to be military attache in the US Embassy, I discovered that my five immediate predecessors were all retired from the US Army and working in SA for "big bucks"......they had all been bought and paid for....

...I relentlessly told the story in my office's reporting of the military ineptitude of the Saudis and the corrupt practices common in the awarding of all foreign military sales contracts to The Kingdom...

...the DIA of that time stood bravely behind me even as they were threatened by the "friends" of Saudi Arabia in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  I personally was threatened with career destruction...."

When the Saudi king died in 2015 Barack Obama was roundly criticized for not showing up fast enough to mourn.  Joe Biden went out first but eventually Obama was there with Michelle standing well behind him dressed in black and with a head covering to conform to Saudi standards.

The deference to the Saudi regime began with President Franklin Roosevelt in the name of oil in 1945 and has continued in the name of oil, of money, of business ever since.

Other nations too join in the quest for cash, nations deeply in debt like the UK and US.

And so here we are with  the sordid murder of Jamal Khashoggi on Saudi territory in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul  claimed by the Turkish regime and now being carefully spun so that business as usual can resume as soon as possible.

Will we get a body or was it indeed chopped up into little pieces with a bone saw as has been claimed by Turkish sources?

We've been bombarded by waves of propaganda about the evils of Syria, the evils of Iran and the evils of Russia, but not told why we must hate those countries.

It is for the sake of the Saudis, indeed it is.

Forget "Animal Assad" for now and consider this mess that is supposed to explained away as a "botched interrogation".

There's so much more than Khashoggi when it comes to Saudi Arabia.

Columnist Pat Buchanan notes:

"....which would be a greater violation of human rights: the sanctioned killing of a political enemy of the regime or 10,000 dead Yemenis, including women and children, and millions facing malnutrition and starvation in a Saudi war of aggression being fought with the complicity and cooperation of the United States?"

Buchanan suggests its time to begin:

"a long withdrawal from decades of entanglement in Mideast wars that have availed us nothing and cost us greatly"

For now one gets the sense that the road is being cleared for more bu$ine$$ as usual with Saudi Arabia, the cradle of Islam, the cradle of Wahabbi extremism, the cradle of Al Qaeda.

President Trump is hell bent and determined to stay the course which is his prerogative, but if he can be nice with the Saudis, nice to Kim Jong-un, nice to Vladimir Putin, why not be nicer to Iran and Syria.

The deference to $audi wi$he$ seems clear now in the almost two years of Donald Trump's presidency.    The United States is bending to their anti-Assad, anti-Iran, anti-Yemen policies.   Deeply in debt nations like the US and UK seem dependent on Saudi financial dealings.

For those who say hostility to Iran is to help Israel may I suggest it has more to do with Israel's money supply which runs through the USA

When Americans concerned about Islamic terrorism and extremism see this friendliness towards this medieval theocratic nation behind the Al Qaeda head choppers in Syria it seems incongruent with candidate Trump's expressed desire to fight such extremism.

I shake my head in disbelief and hope for something better than what I expect to materialize in the coming days.

Someone who wears his "Make America Great Again" hat proudly asked me why we can't just stop doing business with any and all such Muslim-Islamic actors.

My best sense is that the "Deep State" and powers that be in our debt ridden nation that continues to overspend on big government that is not being ended want us to do business with such actors because it cannot be avoided.

  1. This guy killed in Turkey was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and lifelong friend of Osama Bin Laden. We should be thanking the Saudis for eliminating this TERRORIST.

    1. The whole Saudi regime supports the followers of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda as a movement and no amount of spin about Khashoggi will change that.

As for the "Muslim Brotherhood" when the Egyptians threw the MB out of power using their army Brotherhood members got trials and sentences, not summary murder and dismemberment.
