PAKISTAN CONFIDENT, INDIA CONFUSED, AFGHANISTAN PEACE TALKS, IRAN REGIME CHANGE

(COMMENT AND ANALYSIS)

Watching the events unfold some 24 hours ago one saw a confident and fairly accurate posture in the media in general and social media in particular by Pakistan as it successfully flexed its military muscle against India.

India, on the other hand, came off as confused denying anything had happened until Pakistan proved the Indian MIG was downed and pilot captured.

Pakistan showed its military strength and its apparent self-confidence.

And why shouldn't it be confident.

Right now the Pakistan created and backed Taliban of Afghanistan are involved in negotiations with the United States led by top leader Mullah Bardar.

The Qatar talks aimed at ending the conflict in Afghanistan will resume Saturday.

And what comes after that.

In recent weeks we have seen a Pakistan based group launch a terrorist attack in India leading to Wednesday's confrontation.    A suicide attack on a bus that killed 46 Indian soldiers.

But there was also an attack from Pakistan based terrorists on a bus in Iran earlier this month killing 27 members of Iran's elite military unit, the Revolutionary Guards.

When Iran celebrated the anniversary of its revolution 40 years ago this month US National Security Adviser John Bolton said this is the last anniversary that the Iranian regime will celebrate in a video he posted February 11th.

India and Iran have been doing business, Iranian oil for Indian sugar.

Bolton also tweeted this month that if nations buy Venezuelan oil it "will not be forgotten" and he attached to the tweet a story about Venezuela's oil minister visiting India.

Peace in Afghanistan which seems to be quickly approaching could open up that country to join Pakistan as a base for operations against Iran.

One other thing.

India is facing elections this spring, the specific date not set yet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP facing a tough fight with the opposition led by the Congress Party.

This event could be harmful to Modi's re-election bid and bring about some "regime change"  for India.
