FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 86:  GOVERNMENT SHAKEUP,  CORONAVIRUS PROBE

Newsdump Friday July 3rd was very eventful in France with Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, whose popularity is greater than that of President Macron, resigning his post.    Much talk of the resignation in favor of Jean Castex citing the poor performance of Macron's political party (LaREM) in the second round of the municipal elections last Sunday.    Philippe bucked that trend by winning the race for mayor in the port city of Le Havre.

After all the drama and excitement of a transfer ceremony late Friday afternoon, new news would emerge later in the evening.     A prosecutor announcing a court probe of Edouard Philippe along France's health ministers during the months of the coronavirus (Agnes Buzyn and Olivier Veran).    The probe to focus on the government's handling of the coronavirus situation.
