National Rally (RN) legislator Jean-Philippe Tanguy from the Somme region is preparing legislation to bring back brothels in France.
Tanguy says his idea is endorsed by the RN's National Assembly leader Marine Le Pen.
The end result of the proposed law would be to have the prostitutes manage the brothels which would be given a new yet undetermined name.
Mr. Tanguy noted his past work with an organization helping prostitutes victimized by pimps.
In 2016 a law was passed to outlaw purchases of sexual acts. But in 2024 1,579 victims of pimping were identified in France including 659 minors.
It is estimated that 35-40 thousand women are currently involved in prostitution in France...

A prime time forum for the leading 2027 Presidential candidate Jordan Bardella of the National Rally (RN),
Bardella not deviating much from the position of current President Emmanuel Macron on Ukraine.
He spoke of the need to support Ukraine's defense and agrees with the need to end fighting offering praise for US President Donald Trump's efforts.
But saying that any 'peace' should not be on Russia's terms.
Bardella fully supportive of President Macron's recent announcement on voluntary military service that could become mandatory for youth who do their initial ten months voluntarily.
He spoke of military service as a benefit to 'social cohesion'...
In Paris this afternoon a march and rally for peace sponsored by "Les Patriotes". The small political party led by Florian Philippot former member of the National Rally. Philippot a strong opponent of the Ukraine War...
Also in Paris today the weekly Yellow Vests protest. A small group of protesters with some flags in the procession.
